GUT HEALTH · SIBO
SIBO nutritionist in Lisbon and online
If your bloating builds through the day, your bowels swing between constipation and diarrhoea, or SIBO came back after antibiotics, the overgrowth is rarely the whole story. I look for what allowed it to develop, so the treatment holds.

Does this sound like you?
If several of these are familiar, you're in the right place.
Bloating that builds through the day
Distension after carbohydrate-rich meals
Diarrhoea, constipation or both
Excess gas
Tiredness after meals
Brain fog
Low B12, iron or vitamin D
SIBO that keeps coming back
Why SIBO keeps coming back
Clearing the bacteria is only half of the treatment. If the reason they grew is still there, they return.
Slow cleaning waves
Between meals, the gut sweeps the small intestine clean. After food poisoning or with chronic stress, this slows down and bacteria settle.
Low stomach acid
Acid is the first barrier against bacteria. Long-term acid blockers or low acid production weaken it.
After a gut infection
A stomach bug can leave the nerves that drive motility working less well for months or years.
Stress and the nervous system
A body in constant alert digests less and moves food more slowly.
Treatment without a prokinetic
Clearing bacteria without restoring motility is the most common reason for relapse.
How I find the cause
Every assessment is personal. I start with your story and the results you already have, and only add what will change the plan.
Your full story
Symptoms, history, medication and everything you've already tried.
Your existing results
I go through any recent results you bring, in detail.
Testing only when it changes the plan
No standard package. If more information is needed, I'll explain why.
Alongside your doctor
Medical causes are ruled out first, with your doctor when needed.
How we treat it
Over four months, with a consultation roughly every month and the plan adjusted as you improve.
1
Diagnosis and root causes
Confirm the type and find what allowed the overgrowth.
2
Calm the system
Settle symptoms and support the nervous system before treatment.
3
Antimicrobial phase
Herbal protocol matched to your SIBO type, or alongside your doctor's treatment.
4
Restore motility and the gut lining
The step most treatments skip, and the one that prevents relapse.
5
Reintroduce and maintain
Bring foods back and keep a plan for the long term.
Two ways to start
Most people start with a first consultation. If you already know you want the full programme, you can book it directly.
