GUT HEALTH · FOOD INTOLERANCES

Nutritionist for food intolerances and histamine in Lisbon and online

When the list of foods you react to keeps growing, the problem is rarely the foods. It's usually the gut, the enzymes that break them down, or hormones. Treat that, and foods come back.

Does this sound like you?

If several of these are familiar, you're in the right place.

Reacting to more foods every year

Flushing or itching after eating

Headaches after wine, cheese or leftovers

Hives

Bloating or diarrhoea after meals

Worse around ovulation or before your period

A blocked nose after meals

Why intolerances multiply

A low-histamine or elimination diet is a tool to calm symptoms, not a cure.

Low DAO enzyme

DAO breaks down histamine from food, and it's made in the gut lining.

Gut damage

Dysbiosis, SIBO and a leaky gut reduce what the gut can tolerate.

Oestrogen

Oestrogen and histamine boost each other, which is why symptoms follow the cycle.

Lactose and other sugars

Some carbohydrates are poorly absorbed and ferment.

How I find the cause

Every assessment is personal. I start with your story and the results you already have, and only add what will change the plan.

Your full story

Symptoms, history, medication and everything you've already tried.

Your existing results

I go through any recent results you bring, in detail.

Testing only when it changes the plan

No standard package. If more information is needed, I'll explain why.

Alongside your doctor

Medical causes are ruled out first, with your doctor when needed.

How we treat it

Over four months, with a consultation roughly every month and the plan adjusted as you improve.

1

Calm symptoms

A short, structured low-histamine or elimination phase.

2

Find the cause

Gut, enzymes, hormones or a specific sugar.

3

Treat it

Repair the gut and support DAO and nutrient levels.

4

Reintroduce

Bring foods back one by one, with a clear plan.

Two ways to start

Most people start with a first consultation. If you already know you want the full programme, you can book it directly.

Frequently asked questions

When to see your doctor first

  • Unexplained weight loss, blood in stool or persistent vomiting

  • A history of mast cell disorders or high tryptase

  • No improvement after four to six weeks of a structured low-histamine diet
