GUT HEALTH · BLOATING
Nutritionist for bloating in Lisbon and online
Most people arrive having already cut out a long list of foods, and they're still bloated. Bloating is a symptom with several possible causes, and when it happens tells us a lot about which one is yours.

Does this sound like you?
If several of these are familiar, you're in the right place.
Flat in the morning, swollen by evening
Bloated within an hour of eating
Bloated in the evening or the next day
Excess gas
Worse before your period
A growing list of foods you avoid
Looking pregnant by afternoon
What usually causes bloating
The timing is the most useful clue. Bloating soon after eating points somewhere different from bloating that builds all day or follows your cycle.
SIBO
Fermentation high in the gut, usually within 30 to 90 minutes of eating.
Hidden constipation
Slow transit causes bloating even when you go every day.
Carbohydrate malabsorption
Some sugars are poorly absorbed and ferment instead.
A reflex in the abdominal wall
The diaphragm and belly muscles react the wrong way after meals. Breathing work helps.
Low stomach acid and dysbiosis
Poorly digested food feeds the wrong bacteria.
Your cycle
Progesterone slows the gut before your period. That's hormonal, not a food problem.
How I find the cause
Every assessment is personal. I start with your story and the results you already have, and only add what will change the plan.
Your full story
Symptoms, history, medication and everything you've already tried.
Your existing results
I go through any recent results you bring, in detail.
Testing only when it changes the plan
No standard package. If more information is needed, I'll explain why.
Alongside your doctor
Medical causes are ruled out first, with your doctor when needed.
How we treat it
Over four months, with a consultation roughly every month and the plan adjusted as you improve.
1
Find your pattern
Timing, bowel habits, medication and cycle.
2
Assess what matters
Only what your pattern calls for.
3
Treat the mechanism
SIBO, constipation, digestion or the abdominal reflex.
4
Put food back
A plan with an end date, not a shrinking list of safe foods.
Two ways to start
Most people start with a first consultation. If you already know you want the full programme, you can book it directly.
